Sunrise/Sunset is an exhibition organized by Alteronce Gumby, Olivia Gauthier, and Ravi Jackson exploring a nexus of artists working on the east and west coasts. Through showcasing a community of artists working on opposite sides of the country we are examining the shared and disparate aesthetic sensibilities of those working on either coast. Art critics, historians, and the like have often position artists on either coast as working in opposing camps. This exhibition and community seeks to complicate and question this notion.

Alteronce, Olivia, and Ravi are alumni of the City University of New York, Hunter College Art and Art History Department. Alteronce and Ravi have since pursued MFA’s at Yale University and the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) respectively. Olivia has since been working in galleries in New York and is currently at Gladstone Gallery in Chelsea. By working together they have joined a network of artists working on the east and west coasts.
